Help me find the right colour jeans.

Please.

I have been debating on whether to get some raw, selvage jeans and I think the time is right. I'm a little confused about the colour, though. Looking through the 'post pics of your denim' thread, I've noticed a lot of diversity when it comes to the indigo. I am not sure how much of this is down to the individual cameras and lighting conditions when the photo was taken.

Basically, I am looking for the rich, deep indigo as seen in this photo:

Does this photo capture the true colour of the denim? Those are nudies but many other pairs of nudies seem to look different. Does the wash in the above photo have a name? To tell the truth I am extremely picky and I don't like most of what I see, but this pair, and some others, really have what I'm looking for, colourwise at least.

I'm not too hot for the nudie stitching, however, so a different brand with the same colour maybe...

So I am looking for jeans in that colour, with a slim fit. They don't have to be completely raw unless that is a prerequisite for attaining that look.

Can anyone help me out?

Those are the Nudie Regular Ralph Dry selvedge worn and (iirc) washed once.

That is the color of Nudie selvedge (not the flame selvedge) denim after a wash or too: very bright and vibrant, with pretty distinctive vertical streaking. Before they are washed, they appear more greycast (I am looking at the 2 month old pair I am wearing now, and comparing them in my mind's eye to my year old washed countless times pair as well as the pair in the picture.) I haven't come across the same color anywhere else.

Thanks. That last line; are you saying that colour is exclusive to Nudie? It is helpful to know that when new they appear grey, as I might be turned off a pair because of this. Are your year-old pair the same colour as those above? Could you advise me on the fit and potential shrink of these jeans?

Don't know if the color is exclusive, but would not be surprised if that were the case. Nudie is a big company with aggressive branding, and I doubt that they would want jeans that looked too much like theirs floating around.

My year old pair have been washed a lot more than those, and are now both lighter and brighter. However, they did look a lot like those (albeit with different wear patterns) at about 5 months and a few washes.

The jeans shrink a little in the waist, and about an inch in length, iirc. They fit about an inch larger than marked. Check www.zoovillage.com for pretty accurate sizing.

Is that colour consistent along the nudie range of cuts? If so, I think I'd prefer a slimmer cut as the Regular Ralph looks fairly loose in the photos of the jeans being worn that I'm looking at.

The color is reasonably consistent, but that selvedge denim is used on the Ralphs, and the old "new" Svens, and washes brighter than the denim used in the Olas, which might be the cut you are looking for. Of course, I wear my Ralphs slung low and loose, but I've also seen them worn quite tight, and they look decent too. Just size accordingly. They will stretch, but I haven't found them to stretch nearly as much as others have...

Pure Blue Japan is a company that has very, very nice selvage jeans with a very deep color indigo, and xx-005 is the slim cut. go to www.blueingreensoho.com and call them if you want to buy them. they $60 cheaper than RRDS and kick the **** out of them.

In what way to the PBJ's kick the **** out of the RRDS? (which I assume are the Regular Ralphs) Are you talking colouring, or also cut, fit, quality, etc?

Are there any photos about of these jeans?

Hmm, having found some photos they don't look like they're for me. This coarse slubbiness which is held in high regard around here looks and feels bad to me.

I was gonna suggest Sugarcane but you probably wouldn't like the fit. The Hawaii (Premium) is probably one of the better looking jeans out there, right out of the box at least.

If I were you, I'd check out Rag & Bone. The RB6a has a pretty nice color to it.

one thing about Nudie raws(or any type of denim in a broader sense), those would be constantly changing their color. this is part of the idea of breaking in raw denims. they might turn out to be like the picture you posted, but it would eventually change. i would personally recommend 45rpms if you can afford it. some of their distressed models have deep, vibrant color.
