To keep or return?

I just bought this coffee table today to use as a console for my stereo (amp, pre-amp and turntable). I have a relatively small townhouse and need to make the best use of space, as the other rooms are a bit crowded. This is one of two arrangements possible for me to have my stereo out so I can listen to it. The other is in the computer room and the set-up will not look very good. My question is, does utilizing the white coffee table as a stereo console look alright or just outright ridiculous? My wife says it doesn't look good at all. I'm a bit torn at the moment. I do have 30 days to return the table, so I'm trying to figure out if this is do-able or not. (I know the beige carpet is a no-no......that's the first thing to go once we stop renting and buy the place). Thanks!

And a floor-standing Feather lamp. Seriously, it is a small table for a small space, a space that may or may not be one you own down the road. I don't think it looks all that bad, and given that you are stuck with the floor treatment as part of the rental, the table fits OK, color and style-wise. If you take it back, you might try a low table that was a little longer and that was darker, perhaps even with a different style--one more ornamented-- as a point of interest. Biggish sofas with solid colors and very rectilinear arms (Parsons-ish) can overtake a small space and really look massive. The white solid area of the window blind also makes the table below seem smaller. Come to think of it, I would take it back if I could.
