i was watching the show life about fish and saw a sea anemone. i then remembered that i had a sea anemone omelette when i was in spain (sevilla?). and how gross it was. i then thought of all the weird shit ive eaten in my life, and that was top of the list. i wish i had taken a picture of it, as it did not look that appetizing...

so what about you guys?

Balud (chicken egg with highly developed fetus) with a durian sorbet. It was fucked up. Had it in Singapore.

Both my favorites.

In terms of out there food, I think the weirdest I've ever eaten was bee larvae. I actually liked it quite a bit.

Probably Maple Bacon Iced Cream with real bacon in it.

Had Balut and Durian Iced cream....but the maple bacon iced cream was trippy for me, personally.

Either lamb fries (in Oklahoma) or scorpions (in China).

I've never had balut, and likely never will. But I love durian. Fresh it can be a bit hard to take, but I'm sure in a sorbet it was quite pleasant. Freezing it really keeps the funkiness down while bringing out the nice sweetness. That's why it is so popular in smoothies and the like. Mine was not really dish, but at Cyrus, one of the cooks made beef tendon marinated in sriracha and cooked sous vide for a long ass time. I had that with one of my tamago eggs. Very strange combo.

I had some weird stuff before when I used to live in China. But I still can't get around the taste of fermented stinky tofu. The dish literally stinks from many feet away.

I actually don't mind durian once you get to eating it.

I had fried crickets in Japan. That was pretty weird. In 2005 I had the full tasting menu at "The Fat Duck", and there were several weird (but good) dishes in that meal. Maybe the Sardine Sorbet was the weirdest though. Here is what it looked like:

Haven't eaten anything much weirder than organ meats (though I've pretty much had them all): brains, sweetbreads, stomach, tripe, trotters, heart, kidneys, liver, testicles. I guess I only have lungs to try. And I'm talking about animal, not human, organs. Edit: I also ate a couple fish eyes off a fish head (served with a whole fish) just for shits. Was pretty terrible.
