looks like I'll be in london next week with a chance to head to wimbledon on 6/30. I'd like to purchase good tickets for my client and me. It seems to me we have a pretty big uk contingent, anyone know where I can find tickets?

tia,

tia,

As much as I love tennis, the World Cup takes preference.

tia,

Very very late.

In the past I've had luck just going there and getting great tickets cheaply outside the gates. People buy/get fullday tickets but decide to leave after one match and so on.

But since this is for a client and yourself, I assume this is not the way to go.

What are the odds that you're a member of Quintessentially? They are quite good for stuff like this.

I'm not a member of Quintessentially. We're staying at a good hotel in london, perhaps the concierge can help? The client is also a friend, so if we can just show up and buy tickets good outside the gate, that will work...but if I take him to wimbledon and we don't end up getting seats, that will be a problem.

some questions: at the us open, you can be arrested for transacting a sale within 1000 feet (or so) of the stadium. It would be considered poor form for my client and I to be arrested. Is that a worry?

Do I need to worry about ticket fakes? At the open, I know what the tickets look like, not so sure here.

Finally, he's afraid of subways. How much is a taxi from central london to wimbledon?

thanks for all the help,

Call your credit card company and see if they can help you out - as you should know most better credit card provide a concierge service that may help you find tickets.

I have never heard of anything like that ever happening and to be honest I don't even think it's a crime to sell them. Then again; I can't guarantee the opposite!

Do ask the concierge at the hotel, who might be able to help.

Normal black cab to SW19 from Central London might run you £25 or so - just a guess though. I would, however, just advise you to just call and order a car from Addison Lee (the biggest car/taxi service provider, they give you a quote and are usually very good. 0844 800 66 77.

Just FYI, even if your friend doesn't like it; District line (the "green line" on the tube map) runs directly down to Wimbledon.

Further, I just did a quick search for wimbledon tickets on gumtree.com (UK's CraigsList):

Also, here is a ticket seller... looks pricy though: http://www.accesstickets.com/event-7...FSEulAodCy4SQw

Lastly, most pubs show Wimbledon and I personally often watch the matches at Bluebird Cafe on the Kings Road. They show matches on a big screen in the outdoor seating area. Great for a boozy lunch if the weather permits.

The concierge at the Chesterfield Mayfair works magic, could find just about anything. Not staying there by chance?

thought I'd update this thread with my experience. In the end, two debenture tickets for the day I could go would have been more than $2000 each. I might have been able to purchase tickets to court 1 for about $600 each but I became nervous about scammers...they were definitely out there ("my paypal account doesn't work because my wife is out of the country..."). I did have two people offer to let my buy one of their tickets at cost but I wanted to take my client. I finished up work around two (it was the day federer lost, murray beat tsonga), and I just had to go as I wasn't sure when I'd have another opportunity. Took the train out and waited on the famous queue for a grounds pass. They only let people in as other people left but after an hour I was through the turnstile. I checked the schedule and it was mostly juniors on the outer courts so I headed to the resale window. There was a 2 hour wait for center court and court 1 but court 2 was immediately available. Five pounds and five minutes later, I was in the 3rd row watching the bryan brothers. The next match was mixed dubs with stosur and clijsters, a lot of fun. The last match was another mixed doubles match but I thought it would be good to watch the end of the murray match on henman hill. In all, a great time...definitely a more charming venue than the US open but maybe lacking the buzz of a big night match. Perhaps that's not fair as I never saw a center court match. If I play my cards right I can get back there next year with a little more planning. thanks again for everyone's help.
