Allen-Edmonds Taunton Chelsea Boot - Page 2

the Chelsea boot and the Monk. When the BB 25% sale hits next month, the Chelsea will be $336 and the Monk $321. Based on styling alone I'd buy the Peals. The added quality is a bonus, IMO.

I have the Chelseas and am very impressed with them.

I don't think there is any quality difference between AE and Peal. Styling is certainly an issue, although I usually prefer AE's (I've been selling off a lot of my English shoes on ebay but keeping my AE's).

And the AE's have the better price (especially on sale or ebay) and better recrafting price through the factory (relative to peal's, not USA-BB's).

Very nice boot. You should go ahead and place an order so as to have them by cold weather.

I've been looking for the Taunton in an 8.5 D, and the boot appears to be sold-out everywhere as a result of being discontinued. Does anyone know of a store that still has the Taunton in stock? If not, is there another similar boot that you would recommend? (I wasn't sure which of the RM Williams boots was most similar...).

Have you tried calling one of the factory stores? If you go to their website and look at the stores in Wisconsin, I think you'll find about three factory stores there. I called one in WI last time I wanted to order some discontinued shoes from them (just thinking the stores closer to the home office would be more well versed) and the sales associated checked the entire AE sales system for about six models I was hunting. That might be an option for you.

How would these look with jeans? For 150 after coupon, seems like a good deal.

Depends on the jeans, as well as the shirt, whether you're wearing a sport jacket....

Most likely with Raw Denim of some sort or jeans with a dark finish. I am eyeing the brown. I think these would look great as a casual shoe.

Do you own any dress shoes?

I can't get past the seam on the Taunton's front. I never noticed it until I read that damn RM Williams thread. Now it is all I notice about the Taunton.
