I still don't think I've recovered from Lent. Next year I'm giving up, like, chocolate-covered asparagus or chicken-fried rice or something.

you keep it locked?

Being a Gin drinker and Scotch Whisky enthusiast/collector, I have been wanting to try Cadenhead's Old Raj. My understanding is that D&M and the K&L on 4th both carry it. Otherwise, my go-to is Plymouth.

My whisky preferences have been mentioned in 2-3 other threads in this sub-forum.

John Walker in the Financial District also carries Old Raj.

NOPA has a good gin selection for a restaurant bar.

Based on what I know of your whisky preferences I think that you will enjoy the complexity of Old Raj.

For all you bourbon drinkers, try Colorado Whiskey. This is the link to the site: http://www.stranahans.com/index.php?q=home Got it in AZ this past weekend for a bachelor party. It was out of this world. Really smooth, vanilla, cherry. Just wonderful.

Noted and thanks for the recommendations, J.

I've never appreciated a gin for the sake of complexity. All the gin I've ever consumed has been in the form of a gin & tonic or a martini (where the quality of the gin would be more important). I haven't encountered a gin palatable enough to, say, pour into a Glencairn at room temperature and sip straight (or with a splash of water). Any suggestions on how to experience gin as an enthusiast would?

Leopold's gin is nice on the rocks I think.

I myself prefer gin-based cocktails such as The Last Word. Recently, I also had a White Manhattan made with Hudson's White Whiskey, which was a rather refreshing take on an old standard. I only get uncomfortably drunk on good alcohol.

Rum:
Ron Zacapa 23 (Guatemala) for drinking on ice
Ron Barceló Imperial (Dominican Republic) for mixing

Gin:
Bombay Sapphire on the rocks or as a Martini

Whisky:
Lagavulin 16 yr (or the Distillers Edition but that is only for special occasions)
Laphroaig Quarter Cask
Johnnie Walker Black Label/Green Label

Don't really drink Vodka (except of White Russians), Beer or Tequila (except of Tequila Sunrise), have a bottle of 1800 Añejo unopened since over half a year that I've brought back from Mexico.

This is a more modest price point

Vodka - Smirnoff
Gin - Beefeater
Tequila - Cazadores Blanco
Rum - Matusalam Classico
Burbon - Knob Creek
Scotch - Johnny Walker Black
Brandy - Couvossier

And the other things you should probably have are Cointreau and possibly Grand Marnier.

Whisky - Crown Royal, Jameson, and Canadian Club "Reserve Stock" Others - O' Darby .. cream liquor that I drink with coffee when I'm camping/fishing or to start off days with afternoon football games.
