I second that. From Fairfax west all the way to La Cienega, you're gonna find a hell of a lot of shops on Melrose. A few blocks south is Beverly which is also pretty well known, too. Scott posted on this forum about the Hollywood Trading Company that's located on that street. If you're into vintage stuff, look into Aardvark's. Los Feliz has a few vintage/boutique shops, mainly on Vermont in between Franklin and Hollywood, and also some on Hollywood in between Vermont and Hillhurst. A few shops to note: Yque (which I always talk about when it comes to getting cheap AA shirts. they also do a lot of screen prints), Ozzie Dots (vintage stuff, ok prices, but great collection), and a few others. Both areas have a store called Half-Off that can have good prices on denim, shirts, etc.

A quick list of boutique-ish in vaguely the same area: South Willard and Scout on 3rd past Fairfax. There might be some sale stuff hanging around. Scout is probably the better bet for tees, and have Vejas and Swear shoes. South Willard carries Rag and Bone as well as APC. Also, for sneakers - they're absurdly epensive but COMMON PROJECTS are amazing. Wonderful people own both stores. American Rag on S. La Brea and 3rd. This is probably your best bet for cheaper but good tees and an overall good selection of standard fashion denim and shoes. Nice but depressing hipster salespeople. Hollywood Trading Company at Martel and Beverly. Not as big as American Rag or quite as unique stock as Scout or South Willard but a very worthwhile store with great staff. Say hi to Scott/glamroots. Fred Segal, obviously, which is on Melrose, obviously. An ivy-decked institution speaks for itself. Be careful about parking - most neighborhood streets are require a permit to park there. For branded stores, on Melrose alone there's CoSTUME NATIONAL, Duncan Quinn, Paul Smith, and Marc Jacobs. And then there's the Golden Triangle with all the big boring expensive stuff.

During the day most permit streets are open to everyone, the permit rule usually kicks in around 6-8pm

on a limited time, Melrose is definitely the most bang for your visual buck
