yes, a fridge. we ended up taking off the door and the frame , and then we took apart the door of the fridge. it was still tight.

Lol... that sucks. While not literally too big to get in, I should have a smaller dining table. I bought it for a 1000 sq. ft apartment and my current one is 650. It takes up more space than i'd like. I can live with this stuff for two years though.

That sucks. I've never had it happen to me, but I've been close.

Did you try taking the legs off? That might make it possible to wedge it into the hallway.

Yep. Bought a VERY nice desk(cash) from a store on "antique row" on Atlantic Ave in Bklyn. The delivery guy loaded it on his truck and when we got it up to my apt, we could not get it in through the door. We took off the door and still no luck. It was just appr 1 inch too big in every direction. I called the owner of the shop and told her and she said to bring it back. They gave me my $$ back but just charged me for the "delivery." This all happened within an hour so I didn't have to deal with another person at the location.

Haha. I suppose this is the flaw in my approach, and I would not recommend using my plan in this case.

Is it really all one piece? The legs aren't bolted on?

My couch just barely fits thru most doorways. I have to kind of force it thru doors. It's not very nice so I don't care if it gets banged up. I'd get a nicer couch but my girls cat scratches the shit out of it.

Had to do the same thing with the last fridge I bought. It (along with the rest of my appliances) was eventually stolen between the time I moved out of the house and got it rented out. I am certain that the company I hired to manage it took everything but of course was never able to prove it. It happened over 3 years ago and still galls me.

The late, great Rodney Dangerfield lived in a penthouse in L.A. and a few years before he died he bought a jacuzzi that was too big for the elevators. He ended up having it helicopter'd in, closing down Wilshire Blvd. for a significant amount of time. The natives were not amused.

Well, I bought this bookshelf, had to assemble it. Built it in a bedroom, and it was so large that it wasn't able to get out the door when it was time to move. Just left it in there for the next owner/renter to deal with.

I assembled a bed in garage .. and tried to get it into my basement .. needless to say those walls are straight ****ed.
