Lose 1st in 1 Month?

Thread Starter
Ok, so I'm suddenly going on holiday with 6 girls in 1 month from now. They're all incredibly healthy/fit and ... I'm not. Currently 12st, and I would love to be 11st but I don't know if this is a viable goal.

I don't exercise at all. 3 flights of stairs and I'm gonna need to lie down. Having said that, when I do get into a patch where I work out, I drop weight fairly rapidly. I want to know if my goal is achievable, and whether if can be done by simple calorie control and running.

Any other advice welcome, I'm willing to take up Bulimia, but I will not be taking heroin.

RFL won;t work for someone who obviously hasn;t exhibited discipline before.

Your computer's conversion is off. 12 stone is 168 lbs. 11 stone is 154 lbs. To the OP, your goal is certainly achievable, if you can stay disciplined. Here's a few tips regarding diet: 1) Drink a lot of water every day (minimum 2 litres, preferably 3). 2) Limit your intake of sugar. Stick to natural sugars (fruits), as opposed to refined/processed. 3) Eat breakfast every morning (oatmeal is great). 4) Don't eat past 9 or 10 p.m. at the latest. 5) Cut out all other beverages -- milk, juice, soda, liquor, beer, etc. It's rough, but if you drink even half as much beer as the typical British university student does (I would know), this will make a huge difference. Feel free to resume on your trip, and consider that your reward. As for exercise, it doesn't sound like you're looking for a major lifestyle change or anything. Try and find something you can do enjoyably, whether running, swimming, rowing, football, etc. A good mix of cardio and weightlifting should do the trick (if you get into the latter, focus on big muscles, with squats, dead-lifts, bench press, lat pull-downs). Your biggest strength gains should be in the beginning anyway. You won't get ripped, but should be able to reach your goal. Anyway, post some photos of these beezies! I'm thinking six of them will be too many for one guy, and you might need a SF friend to divvy them up with

NO carbs (no bread, rice, beer, sodas, juices, etc etc). Drink only water with the occasional coffee. Eat smaller meals (high protein, high fiber), and add some sort of resistance training. The most important thing is diet which is also the hardest thing to do.

Globe's got it. Easiest and most convenient way to do it. 11 lbs in one month is no sweat if you're serious about it. You could crash off way more than that...

one month? crash diet.

protein powder plus water for breakfast
protein powder plus water for lunch. some fruit.
salad for dinner.

fast walk for 90 mins a day. you will feel like shit bit its only one month.

Zero carbs, up your fat (i.e. good fats) and protein intake. You'll feel like absolute shit for a bit but then it won't be as bad and you'll lose a ton of fat. Including exercise, obviously.

can't help with the nutrition side of things but def. this for the exercise. running makes you hungrier than walking.

Um, that's because you burn fewer calories? Walking fast makes you hungrier than sleeping.

Actually, when I used to run a lot, I found it was a pretty good appetite suppressant, at least in the short term.

Isn't losing a ton of weight in a month unhealthy and dangerous? Out of pure curiosity what country uses stones for weight? Vikings? How many arm lengths high are you? Also, why do you need to lose weight suddenly for this? Will there be a lot of hiking involved and your worried about keeping up? If so you need to work on that rather then weight(though the weight will drop due to the exercise, but that's a guess I'm no expert)
