Want to get a desktop... saw this.

What do people think of this? Is it hard to sit in front of a monitor that large? I thought it's kind of cool.

Any cons? Tokyo, I'll just take your list for granted.

I use the old 20" iMac. The new 21" to me is more than sufficient as a desktop.

Sort of depends on where you'll be using it.

I keep my main computer on a pretty small desk (about 3.5x2.5) and my 22" is perfect. I think anything larger would be weird.

If I had a larger area, a real workstation, I could see using the 27" though.

I use it almost entirely for work purposes (besides porn and style forum). So, writing, watching a lot of DVDs and youtube.

I use a 24" Imac along with a second 22 monitor and it's pretty good. I just do wordprocessing (two page A4) and a few open webbrowser windows.

We use a 27" iMac, the one with the i5 processor. It's probably more screen real estate than we need, but it's very pleasant to work on.

that new mac mini looks freaking sweet.

I have a 24", and wouldn't mind a 27"

buddy has the 27". he does video editing for a living and it's quite amazing. That being said, he uses every square inch of real estate on that thing, but 99% of others won't. However, HD torrent of shows/porn/movies look mighty nice on it.

I loved my 27" iMac. Definitely not too big. Downsized to a 15" notebook though. Man the difference in screen is atrocious.

I wanted the i7, but they didn't have it in stock and the hipster salesperson at the Apple store was already making it difficult for me to get an i5 on account that I did not appear to be in the "creative industry" and it would be greener of me to go with less power.

WTF? You can buy whatever you want, if the SA won't help you, ask for another SA.

Does he think Tweed in the City updates itself?

I have a 27" monitor at home and use all the space on it all the time. I make a lot of custom map products using GIS software though. If I were just surfing the web or doing some basic word processing all the space would definitely be overkill... but it would still be nice!
