Got to mess around with a Nexus S this weekend. Build is so-so. Seems cheap in the hand. Surprisingly lightweight compared to my girlfriend's G2. I will say that it is much faster when compared to the G2 or at least it seemed to be for some reason.

I received a notification on my Epic this morning: "Voicemail - A mandatory update is now available." I click on it, it says "upgrading voicemail application", then tells me "No updates available". I am now stuck with this stupid icon showing on the top left of my phone with no option to clear it.

Okay, so this would never happen with a Blackberry. I have IT force a password change every two months. Android is a pull, right? Uses your domain\\username and your password. Sooooo, change your password on your desktop, phone trys to pull every five minutes with that wrong password. What happens?

So, remember to set your work email to "never check," change your password, change password on phone, put setting back to every five minutes.

(HTC Desire HD) Today, I got up at 7:45, now it's 20:00 (8 pm) and I'm at 67%.

Impulsive as I am, I tried the visionary unroot thingy (give me no credit) and for about a day thought I ruined my phone, untill I found out I had the visionary app still un temperary unroot at startup (after I permanently rooted the phone). Unrooting has been rather pointless upto now, since I only removed the amazon mp3 store app, but it's the thought that counts, I guess. I'd already killed Wifi, bluetooth and GPRS. Screen brightness is/was at 30% or so. I did lessen most updating. Other than that it seems the battery is getting stronger or the gadget attraction has lessened, so I won't 'play' with it as much. Overall I start to get happy with it. Thanks all for the tips! ------ As my first smart phone I can't compare to other models, but the speed of loading of internet pages seems impressive to me. Reaction on input is near instantaneous, most of the times (except the time it was temporarily rooted). The camera is decent during day shooting (for a phone). I'll try and post some pics soon, the ones I have are fairly personal. Oh wait, I went to a modern art museum(like room) and can post a picture of a painting I saw there:

(Low light situation) I find a thouch screen phone phone (as in phone) a bit of a bother, and texting at the moment goes slower than on my SE W890I, as does phoning. Something in me rails against a phone wich is dificult to use as a phone and which battery lasts 1/10th of the time of some nokias. And why can't I see at what time I was called? Edit: View from museum, through window:

Augh I am not a big fan of Samsung and how they do the hardware. Sure the AMOLED screen pops and looks nice on their Galaxy S phones but they feel so darn cheap. The plastic is just a big no no for me.

Droid X has never had a case on it and I've dropped it a couple of times and there isn't a mark on it. It is just better hardware.

You've got to love just how ****** Sprint is. CDFS - keep tooling around with the root options. Once you get into the custom launchers and ROM's you really start to open up the functionality. Nice camera on that Desire btw. Those are good looking shots.

I did that, but I got tired of Google's unbelievably terrible transcriptions of my voicemails. Granted a lot of my friends have accents, but even the voicemails of my regular ass white folk friends came out as complete gobbldy ****.

Well, today I was able to download the update. Splendid.

I checked around online and saw a couple of instances where Sprint had recommended a hard reset. WTF? And lose all my angry birds progress? Certainly not!

Rumor is that the Froyo update is going to FINALLY come out just after Xmas.

Well, I can wish in one hand and crap in the other, and see which gets filled first.

To be clear, it's not your info that I'm doubting. I'll just believe a promise from Samsung when I see it.

And as Althis points out, it's a bit of "too little, too late" at this point, with other manufacturers coming out with gingerbread already.

At any rate, I'm just bitching for the sake of bitching. I didn't even really know the benefits of froyo until I looked at the screen shot you posted. Crazy that a company would leave out of date software on what is supposed to be a "flagship" device, but I knew what I was getting into buying a Samsung phone. Still don't regret my choice...it's not a perfect device, but neither is anything else currently out.
