Pretty astonishing a building like that in NYC has been vacant since the 40's. Would have thought at least 1 architect would have caught a glimpse of those dragon balcony supports and would have been all over that building.
That's very cool. The most amazing thing to me is that it seems to have been completely spared from the effects of the elements (both natural and criminal)... especially compared to what would happen to a comparable building here in the Detroit area. Though it may have been largely vacant for so long, there had to have been people looking after it and doing some maintenance along the way.
