Stunning interiors pics from a NYC building that's been boarded up since 1940 http://www.scoutingny.com/?p=2164 EDIT: The pics have been pulled. Original site didn't have permission to post

Pretty astonishing a building like that in NYC has been vacant since the 40's. Would have thought at least 1 architect would have caught a glimpse of those dragon balcony supports and would have been all over that building.

That's very cool. The most amazing thing to me is that it seems to have been completely spared from the effects of the elements (both natural and criminal)... especially compared to what would happen to a comparable building here in the Detroit area. Though it may have been largely vacant for so long, there had to have been people looking after it and doing some maintenance along the way.

magnificent find!

Wow. quite something.

Maybe they can turn it into a mosque, given it's location?

Incredible. Urban ruins fascinate me.

Truly epic.

I just hope they don't fuck up the restoration . . .

I wonder why this has not been renovated or developed.

Knowing a tiny bit about construction, and knowing a tiny bit about Manhattan, I cannot begin to comprehend how much a full renovation will cost.

I predict at least one bankruptcy, maybe two, before it's done.

As cliche as it sounds, they sure don't build em like that, anymore.

I was going to type "Cue music: 30 days in the hole."

However, that would have gotten Ed Morel too excited.
