Advice for preferred look for tanner belt

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Tanner belt in the size 34. I normally wear a size 32 in most denim.
The Tanner belts are sized 2" longer than its tagged size. It measures 36" from the buckle to the the middle hole. The total length of the belt is 42". With the size 34 Tanner belt, I wear it to the fourth hole (35"). I feel the belt is a tad long but but if I switch it to a size 32 I'm afraid that the belt might look too short since I will be at the second hole and the total belt length being 40".
I have a Sugarcane dual prong belt that measures 41" in total length and it buckles right to the middle hole. It is exactly how I would want the belt to fit.

What do you guys think? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I wear my tanner belt on the second hole and I think it looks a little short, but there is nothing I can do at this point. I'd recommend you just keep it as is.

Since I'm a rocket scientist, I think I can help. You have three options here.

1. Cut the longer belt.

2. Gain or lose weight.

3. Find a different belt.

I'm in literally the exact same situation as you (32 waist, wear a 34 on the fourth hole) and it looks fine to me. It's not excessively long and doesn't flop around because the leather's pretty sturdy.

If it bothers you, some shoe repair shops could alter the belt to make it shorter.

. I think I will either keep it at size 34 or possibly get it shortened at some point with a cobbler.

Just as a side thought, I wonder how they would shorten a belt like this. From what I understand the cobbler would typically shorten it from the buckle end. But on the Tanner belts near the buckle end, there are two really large snap buttons which may make shortening it to an exact dimension problematic. Or, would they shorten it at the tail end?

^i'm no rocket scientist but perhaps he could best answer that question when he sees the belt?
