Um, did you not just compare yourself to the siblings and cousins that bully the awkward teenager?

This is incorrect. mafoofan is more like Plato or Socrates, or maybe a representative of an advanced alien race from the Crab Nebula*.

I probably shouldn't ever watch that. I feel way too much empathy for the protagonist.

What does arguing with people have to do with this thread or my predicament?

For what its worth, Foo, I understand where you're coming from. I built my wardrobe with a philosophy similar to yours (lots of neutrals, stuff that I like, not whats "stylish" and labels mean little to me) but I always try to look sharp and I try to never overdo it. I'm not anywhere near your level of command over my wardrobe (or am I as famous
bigstar[1].gif
) and I get questions all the time about "dude what do you think about paisley ties?!" or "why do you own so many white shirts?" or "why on earth would a guy your age shop at Brooks Bros? You need to go the Zegna store, man. Thats where its at." I mean who the hell wants to pay 500.00 for a dress shirt that fits pretty horribly? Anyway, the point is I probably deal with 5% of what you are, and it pisses me off royally. So I can only imagine. I'd be like

It has to do with you exhibiting contradictory behavior. You're ready to bring it anytime when it comes to a fit critique, but now that people are basically coming up to you and being like, "Justify your clothing choice," (starting a discussion or argument on their terms) you get all in a huff: "How can they do this? This is so annoying!" Like... you chose this... *Cliff Notes of Foo's Situation* Foo: "Hello World, I'm really confident and knowledgeable when it comes to style." Friend: "I only know a little about style, but I'll probably learn something by talking to you about it." Foo:

I still fail to understand why anyone would want to ask foo for style advise? I can't imagine people your age would want to dress like you so it must be because of the BDRM stigma but wouldn't that fall by the wayside once they see you in OCBD, tweed and longwings?
