Xbox 360 Kinect

Apparently this is what Project Natal has culminated to. Also, a new smaller black box with built in WiFi (finally), 250 gb, & quieter for $299 out later this week. I already have a 360 (back from when it was released), but given that my old 20 gb hard drive is almost full, contemplating buying the new slim one and Kinect, though honestly, I don't see myself using Kinect that much. If the wifi that comes with the slim guy is 802.11n, then that may sweeten the deal considerably. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I had heard rumors that they were going to do something with motion sensors so you could play games similar to the wii. Nothing like that on this one?

Yeah, it was announced yesterday. I don't think you can buy it as of today, but soon... very soon...

Yeah that's what this is. Seems gimmicky to me, but I have my Xbox for playing games & netflix, so might as well have the latest and greatest, and stay up with all these newfangled things the kids have nowadays I remember how ecstatic I was when my parents got me a nintendo 64, complete with Super Mario 64. those were the days...

damn, the video is cool but how sensitive will it really be. On the down side that family was to white and generic and whats up with all the ikea garbage.

There is still an action delay with Kinect and price is a bit high at $150 I think. The Minority Report type of control you can do with it is pretty damn cool though.

What sucks is they are releasing copycat games that Wii already released. Not much originality with the games, yet. SO much possibilities with this compared to Sony's PS Move, which is practically the exact same thing as the WiiMote.

Yay, now the 360 and ps3 can get hundreds of shovelware games just like the Wii!! Hooray for fleecing the unsuspecting public.

What are you talking about? The game call "Sport" is completely original and has nothing to do with any game ever released on the Wii.

The new 360 is a rubbish piece of industrial design. It looks like a second rate PC case with some angles. After watching the E3 presentation yesterday, I am sure that Microsoft will never threaten Google or Apple in the creativity realm.

It looks like the Kinect was officially launched yesterday and you can go out and order one today.

Does anyone have any more thoughts on this? I think I might actually get one for my wife since she's into all that fitness stuff the kinect seems to excel in. I saw a demo on a news program for the yoga one (or something like yoga) and it looked pretty good.

Why the hell are they doing this to games? I want to sit on my couch and relax there, not give myself carpel tunnel and look like star wars kid while doing so. I even hate playing stylus games on the DS. What a shitty idea, hopefully this will pass.

Pass?

Doubtful. This isn't the Power Glove for Nintendo.
