Finally getting around to mounting my rear speakers in my new apartment. I have to drill throguh concrete to mount them. It's not working out very well. I am using a 14.4 volt cordless drill. Is this powerful enough? I think maybe the juice is low so i'm recharging the batteries before I try and mount the second speaker. i do not have faith in my abilities though. I think that for ceiling-mounting my projector, I will get a pro, because i don't want my expensive toy falling to an untimely death. I also have to put a hole through the wall joining my bedroom and living room, which is also concrete, so that I can feed an hdmi, network, and digital coax cable. This will require a significantly larger drill bit, and I don't know if my drill has the power to do the job. I could also just build another computer and keep it in my living room and buy some white network cable and staple it along the baseboard to the bedroom, but I was really hoping to keep cables out of sight as much as possible... Thoughts? =/ I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars, but a couple hundred is fine.

You think you're useless around the house?
I have a huge window that faces east with no blinds on it. I can barely sleep at night b/c of the streetlights, and then by the time I get to sleep, the sun is out soon and it keeps me awake.
So I resolve to put venetian blinds up before work today.
I guesstimate the size of the window, and decide to buy two 29 inch blinds, and one 58 inch blind. Buy the blinds, get home, start putting them up. Here is where i'm at now:

I am a failure. I feel like Conne.
I still have a 29 inch blind to put up. So I can either put up the 29 inch blind up and have about 12 or 13 inches of that blind just covering up my wall, or I can go BACK to Lowe's on my day off, get the right sizes, then redo it all over again.
Note to self: buy a fucking tape measure!

I don't blame you, dude. You're working with limited resources. I mean, I know it's my second nut that gives me the ability to do manly stuff like work with my hands. You should probably stick to cooking, as it's an activity that can be undertaken by people working with a light fruit basket (hence the tendency of women to be good at it).

The only mistake here was that I should have bought a tape measure before I bought the blinds. And now I know. Oh no, I wasted $7 on blinds that were the wrong size. I feel so bad!

I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars, but a couple hundred is fine.

14.4v cordless drills can't drill on concrete. hammer drills can do the trick definitely, but a regular electric drill (and a lot of your sweat) can also do the trick. and just in case you're not familiar with screws, you can't screw directly on concrete, so you better get those plastic screw inserts to put in the hole.

Actually it was $28 total. I was surprised it cost that much. It's just fucking venetian blinds, know what I mean?
Lulz. I just got back from returning the blinds and buying a tape measure. By Monday, I will have perfectly set up blinds in my room. I am a man!
GQGayk is in Canadia, so be happy for that. I, on the other hand, am proudly from the US of A. And I learn through trial and error. I am now better equipped to rule the world of window treatments than I was 3 hours ago. Progress, my friend!!

This thread makes me sad. I despair for the future of the republic.
