Cosmetically they could use a little work, but in terms of the way they make you feel, they can't be beat. Those ramses look like perfect.

I don't get this line of reasoning. Do people really find shoes uncomfortable?

I bought my first pair of sandals in 1995 or 1996 and then I expanded it to the Footprints closed shoes line. Incredibly comfortable. After two centuries, the German parent company knows a thing or two about making comfortable footwear.

To me the problem is the entire category of open-toed sandals and flip-flip flops for men. It can never succeed because the male foot is never something you want to see. Please don't do it.

That said, I think Birks are preferable to most, if not all other sandals. In fact, I have them on my feet as I type this. I have a pair of arizonas (6-7 years old and going strong) that I wear at all times when I am at home. If anyone is looking for a house sandal (don't wear shoes in the house), look no further. The comfort and support is truly superior. Its much better than being barefoot or destroying your socks. But please wear real shoes when you leave the house.

In hot weather, its better to wear sandals and let feet breathe. But at other times of the year, wearing closed shoes makes sense.
