Miami Trip.

I will be in Miami for the weekend and was wondering if there were any interesting things to see, and do. I suspect most of Miami will be too much of an overgrown beach-resort for my taste, but I understand they have a kind of contemporary art scene there evidenced by the annual Art Basel show. Perhaps there are snotty art-scene discotheques in which to pay $14 for an adult beverage.

If you really want a feel for the place and have a decent grasp of Spanish, drive down Calle Ocho and stop at a roadside cafe. Miami's a really great place, it's like the Capital of the Third World. If you stay in the right areas, you can go days without seeing another Anglo.

Of course, Coconut Grove is always nice to visit too.

Check out Vizcaya. Beautiful historical site here in Miami. After that you can head down the street to Coconut Grove. If you want to see some art etc you can check out the Design District. If you feel like doing some people watching, go to South Beach and check out Lincoln Road. While in South Beach you can visit the Versace Mansion also. Plenty to do here. Whatever you decide, have fun and enjoy your trip!

Not for me. I like grittier travel experiences (which isn't really safe because I'm 6'2", scrawny, and extremely Anglo). Miami's probably the closest you can get to visiting another country while still living in the US.
