Todd Shelton jeans (review and a question)

Thread Starter
Hello, all. If you haven't checked out Todd Shelton's site and his clothes, I highly recommend doing so. I found out about him and his company on a men's clothing blog, and after visiting his site decided to give his jeans a try. I was not disappointed - they're top shelf in styling, construction, and materials. Clean, simple good looks, solid craftsmanship, and made in the USA. The website is very helpful on figuring out sizing, and Todd himself is a pleasure to do business with. He will work with you on fitment, and he's genuinely dedicated to making customers happy. All around great experience, I'm waiting on a new batch of his darker colored denims.

My question: this is the first pair of selvage denim I've ever owned, and I think I'm hooked. The weight and texture of the cloth is incredible, and I'm wondering what other brands have a similarly substantial, quality feel. Todd makes 3 kinds of jeans, and I already own one and have the other two on order. I need to expand my wardrobe and I'm averse to owning two of the same anything. In terms of budget, ideally I'd like to keep it to $150 or under per pair.

(Disclaimer - I don't work for Todd Shelton, nor am I receiving anything in return for this post. One item I ordered was out of stock, and without my asking he sent me one of his fantastic T-shirts as an apology. That's the kind of guy he is, and why I'm posting about his clothing here.)

Well Im not Spam, and I've been here longer than you have. I just got my pair of Shelton's in the mail and they are FANTASTIC. I have J Crew Jeans, and i you have a man sized body and can't wear Japanese Jeans (I am 6'3 195, and Im in the gym 4 days a week), then these are for you. They are also made in the USA which matters a TON to me. I plan on picking up a few more pair just because I tend to wear my jeans a very long time.

No offense but if these are your first pair of selvage jeans, your pov is slightly askew. For $109 retail, there's no such thing as "incredible" or "substantial, quality feel" selvage denim.

There are quite a few $150~ (retail/sale) pairs to choose from if you check out our affiliates at the top. There are also a few non-affiliates that also suit the bill of being around that price range and also being made in the US. And I can almost guarantee you that you'll prefer the denim.

Not to nitpick but do you care that jeans are made in the US with non-US materials?

No, I don't care. I would rather have something made in the US of what I can only speculate is Chinese selvedge denim, than made in China of US selvedge denim. Are there any US mills anymore anyway?

"Japanese jeans" come in all kinds of cuts and sizes. They aren't just skinny jeans, they aren't just for people with 30 inch waists. A lot of really good repro jeans by brands like Iron Heart and Sugar Cane are straight leg, just like those Todd Sheltons.

Vouching for the quality of a pair of selvage jeans + not knowing anything about selvage jeans =

go away. there are plenty of japanese jeans (PLENTY) that don't fit slim at all, and you're not even that big tough guy.

Not fitting slim =/= fitting well. As for not being that big, I'm the biggest person in this thread. When you hit 5'10, you can talk to me about how jeans fit. Until then, enjoy shopping in the boys section.
