So, I essentially have a double major from college- Economics and Biology(and Ethics minor) and I want to put my Economics degree to good use(aka, get an internship working for a financial firm that invests in biotech/pharma/health care industry). The only downside to this is that I have no relevant internship experience besides working in a healthcare setting volunteering. Since I did economics through the school of arts I did not take an intro finance course(another downside) but did take the usual stats and money and banking courses alongside all the econ courses. I've emailed some hedge funds that I found on the internet that specifically invest in those areas and am waiting for a response. My sole intent is just to learn how finance/investment work from a hands-on experience rather than from a book. At the same time, I am also pre-med so eventually would like to get my MD/MBA, and am sure that I want to go the practicing physician route, but would like to gain some experience in the investment world. Not only do I want to learn how to invest but also to learn how the government policy will shape business decisions in the health care industry. Am I looking to do too much? Just looking for a bit more direction/discussion For those interested on my senior thesis topics: Econ-How active inflation targeting affects the growth of national economics(esentially the interaction between fiscal and monetary policies and how they interact with an open inflation target to effect the economy) Ethics-Developing a new and more updated definition for brain death. Mostly did research on the research Dr. Shewmon has done in that subject.
