There's a medallion on them? I can sort of see something there.

yep, the medallion is really nice, it extends a bit on the side, not too much, but enough to be unique and eye-catching. the color goes from a dark espresso brown to an even darker brown at the toebox

Prada, Gucci, RL Cordovan (C&J), (Reddings in the shop getting rubber)

Makes me think of all the $$$ I have spent over the years on boots in NYC and literally worn through... (Tod's, Prada, RL...)

I am particularly tough on my shoes

The wide toed last has a form similar to the EG 202 last. In fact nearly all of their lasts are extremely elegant and compare favourably to C&Js or even EG lasts.

Thanks for the info, Sator.

Couple of quick questions.

Which is the most elongated/elegant of the Craftsman variations or are you referring to different boots? Is the Macquarie very different than the Craftsman? Turnout?

Does anyone know if the NY store carries all models and variations?

I popped in to the Toronto store recently, but they had few options.

Thanks.

The NY store carries samples at least of most of the models. They don't stock them all, and the choice of leathers in the store is limited (I believe, for example, that they have just one boot in Kangaroo, and maybe one in French veal calf). It is far from comprehensive.

Thanks, Grim.

I'll pop by on Saturday.

Am I misreading Sator? You can have a craftsman made with a different last or is he referring to different models?

This may be a semantic question. My understanding is that if it were on a different last, it wouldn't be a Craftsman, but a "Jodhpur" (which is a chelsea, the jodhpur is on the Craftsman last but is called the Stockman--confused yet? ) or a Turnout or something else.

While you're there, pick up a catalog by the door. It's a good reference.

Jason, could we please get some more photos of those boots? At least a side shot. They look interesting. How is the last shape, btw?

I am sorry, but I do not share any admiration for ankle boots.

1.They don't look warm enough for winter nor do they have thick enough soles. This makes them useless, as cold-weather shoes.

2. They don't like moisture, just like any leather shoes, thus useless when it snows.

3. All new ones that I have seen look half decent compare to oxfords, bluchers or monks counterparts.
But most of the ankle boots look like homeless person shoes after a few months of wear.

I also expect them to be too hot and have poorer ventilation in comparison to the regular shoes.

What is the benefit of an ankle boot other than: "Look, I have one too"?

They turn me on!

I'm going to get this model from Plal as as soon as I can figure out all this C&J/Polo/US/UK sizing madness.
