ET Wright Chelseas, $124 on sale. Plus, in a 12AA, my ridiculously hard-to-find shoe size.

Did you get these from an online store? This is exactly the type of boot I've been looking for....

if you're just looking looking for the general style, and not this particular brand/model - there are a ton of boots like this available - check out pediwear, plal, shipton and numerous other online stores.

Yeah, I've been looking online, but it's been harder than you might expect to find a classic well-made chelsea in this price range. AE Taunton would be perfect but I'm looking to spend maybe half that.

The Borrellis (really Mantellassis) are Chukka boots as were the Canalis. However you are absolutely correct that the spectators belong in the normal shoe damage thread.

I type this wearing a new pair of the Mantellassi Chukka in tan suede from STP. Very very comfortable shoe.

For those in need of a suede ankle boot, Barneys of NY on Wilshire in LA had a nice pair of brown suede ankle boots on sale this past week. Had I not picked up 4 pair of suede shoes this month I would have carted those home. Particularly with my wife reminding me we live in Az where you can only wear suede 3 months of the year. Jan is our fall, February our Winter and March is our Spring. Summer is the other 9 months.

[snip...]

I was really just joking. I love all the pics, even though anything with ostrich is beyond my ability to admire.

Nice price, they also fit and look good .

What do you figure is the quality of those Borrellis compared to the English brands usually discussed here? Do you think the toe is rather elegant, comparing say to the 7000 last?

Also, you can't quite wear suede in the summer?

You can wear suede in the summer, but I don't wear any type of ankle boot in the summer. I think the entire shoe is elegant looking for an ankle boot. On my foot, these look like $1000 boots.

White suede bucks are a summer staple.
You can wear suede in the summer.

Yes, if you are going to be outside in 90+ heat and they are not white bucks, then no they may not be the most appropriate wear, but otherwise I think they are perfectly appropriate.

How are these working out for you?

I have the dark brown veal and a tan of the traditional style. But I really like the buckle version, maybe even better than the chelsea. What's the cost? What leather did you get?

Thanks

Kangaroo in chestnut. Very nice. Have never owned anything in roo leather before so it always amazes me with how soft and pliable it is.
I think they came out to a smidgeon under 300 with shipping, cannot exactly remember.
Only problem is a slight loose heel - I have really narrow ankles so I always have that trouble...

Out of curiosity, does or will Vass make a chelsea boot? I can't recall ever seeing one from them and it's a pretty classic style of boot.
