If you want something that just flat out rocks, try looking for the JBL L100, I'm not sure what they go for nowadays but I remember my dad owning a pair. It's pretty opposite of the AR3, it trades imaging for the "thump".
This is exactly what I don't want. I like to hear music as it was recorded. I only want to hear thump if the producer wanted it to be there, and how he wanted it to sound.
