A pair of good shoes will always be one of the most expensive item of any wardrobe.

In general I think it's wrong for a guy's jeans to cost more than his shoes. It's much more worthwhile to spend more for a shoe.

At the same time I also think it's wrong for a guy to go all Imelda Marcos with shoes and have a huge closet full of them. Keep the collection to a few decent pair. Leave the shoe thang to the wimmenz.

shoes man. if i had the bank, i'd still only have about 5 pairs of jeans (around $300 range), but probably 20-30 shoes. each pair would be >$300 too. if i had the money.

Jeans, but it seems to be rapidly become a dual-addiction. Fortunately, I'm kind of a Doc Martens fan, so at least I won't be completely ruined by this new development...

I probably actually spend about the same, but my shoes retail for significantly more. Jeans for me top out at about $200, but I'm willing to pay MSRP for those, or use whatever 10-20% discount coupons are available. Shoes I generally wait for the second round of markdowns on, so I'll rarely pay more than 50% of MSRP, so my shoes end up being $150-250, so the average is the same as my jeans.

Stick to the formula and you are golden

MSRP of jeans + MSRP of shoes must be >= 1000

Shoes easily.

I buy shoes more often, but when I do buy jeans they cost a lot more than a pair of shoes! So jeans!

Shoes. My jeans are more expensive, but I'm a fucking shoe whore. I've probably got over $1000 in just my JV Converse alone. Yikes.
