I'm looking at two different apartments in the same complex. I'm leaning towards this one:

I will be living alone, except for the occasional weekend- the main reasons for me to go with the bigger one is it's kitchen, and is overall much more nicely furnished, both bedrooms have a bathroom as well. It's also in the newest building in the complex, and faces the sunny side. The other apartment faces north and doesn't get much sun. Other than that, they're pretty similar. To put things in perspective, the first apartment would be 25% of my (after tax) monthly salary. The second apartment would be ~17.5% of my monthly salary. Suggestions?

Anyhow, good luck with your apartment hunting; I moved recently as well, and would honestly advise that you get the smallest place you can tolerate - any bigger than what you need for your sanity and you will just fill it up with shit you don't really need. Any additional $ you save is just icing.
