Ahh L.A., full of cheap unpretentious local sushi places run by actual Japanese folks.

Tokyo is also full of those.

^ True, but in Tokyo, I'd have to explain that I'm not Japanese (sumimasen, nihonjin dewa arimasen) and deal with the nearly inevitable awkwardness.

I have a buddy who is ethnically Japanese but he is from Hawaii and his Japanese language skills are almost non-existent. He is also a bit very doughy. The most common thing out of his mouth is "whaaa huhhh ohhh sorry dude my bad". His encounters with Japanese nationals can be epic.

Sitting here enjoying myself in a nice quiet bar. Some dumb bints come in a put terrible country music on the jukebox. I use my iPhone app to surreptitiously skip their songs and play Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up. I rule all.
