Foodguy referred to Keller as "God" today. In print. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

my little SF homage. i love those little nabakovian twists so my biographers can go back and ponder where they came from.

On that note, while reading the Slate article, all I could think was that the author hadn't checked the LA Times or Serious Eats while researching for his diatribe.

or the old journalistic adage: never let too many facts get in the way of a good story.

He doesn't write nearly as many as his minions. If you DO decide to add LA times Daily Dish to your Google reader, make sure you only click on the ones that are titled "Forklore," "Taco Tuesday" or something else that sounds like it might be by RP. If you see something that says culinary SOS or test kitchen tips, don't click on them. Unless, of course, you actually WANT to spend your time reading "uhh hi, LA Times? I had this really good salad once at this one place, halp!" "Oh yes, that salad is made by putting lettuce and garnish together and tossing it with vinaigrette kthxbai" or "here's a major tip for all you home cooks out there!!! When you cut into an avocado, don't let it sit out at room temperature or it might brown!!!!"

I kid, although only slightly. Seriously, I go three days without checking my Reader, and I have 20+ DD articles, only 4 of which are interesting at all, and lo and behold, all 4 are written by Foodguy.

TL;DR version:
Only read the daily dish articles that you think might be written by RP himself. The rest suck. And read every "Forklore" article you ever see, b/c they're awesome too (although not written by FG).

funny thing is those culinary sos columns are about our most popular items. our readership is half mordecai-hipster, slouching at a coffee bar in a porkpie hat, complaining about the state of public art and comparing notes on obscure chinese regional specialties, and half grandmas in reseda.

IIRC, you usually do the forklore on Sundays, or maybe it's Mondays but that's my day off so I don't realize what day it is. Anyway, sometimes they can be the highlight of my week. As pathetic as that is.
