Phone Interview in Manhattan: Where to go?

So I have a phone interview today for position with a company that I'm very interested in acquiring. I'll be receiving the call during my lunch break from my current job. The only problem... I work in the Financial District. Where can I go for a quiet cell phone conversation?

During the Fall, I found a nice area around South Cove Park, near the Hudson River. However, it has gotten much busier with the nice weather and all the tourists. It can also be tough with all the helicopter tours overhead. Any ideas on where I can go that will be quiet enough not to disturb our conversation?

Is there a hotel nearby with a business/conference center? If so, they often have phone booths

+1 on hotels. I used to do them in the lobby of the Waldorf when I worked in midtown.

Just find a corner in a library.

The suggestions above require the use of a cell phone - not something I would recommend for an interview.

Why is that?

I really don't have an option. The only phone I own is a cell phone. I can't take the call at work, I'm in a cubicle.

Reception... Sometimes it can be hard to understand people and you have to ask them to repeat themselves.

That said, I've done two phone interviews in the last day and they both went extremely well. I was using a cell phone.

But since you're in manhattan, gdl's advice is good. I'd rather use a land line if I had the choice and it wasn't super inconvenient.

Good point. I guess the hotel phone booth could come in hand if the reception is bad. Although, to be honest, reception has never been a huge issue (knock on wood) since I don't use AT&T or an iPhone.

Wow, so neither The Marriott or The Hilton had phone booth... The Hilton didn't even have phones at all. I had to scramble over West Street to ultimately find a courtyard for an apartment complex.

You know, it's kinda funny. Everyone complains that people talk on their cell phones in public places, but there is absolutely nowhere else to carry on a conversation. I wish we had some old school, bright red, British style phone booths.

Reserve a conference room in your office and use the phone there or find an unoccupied office.

OR

Follow the library suggestion and make the phone call in one of the little private rooms most libraries (in my experience) have.

OR

Go to a crappy restaurant that barely gets any business.
