Leather bag/briefcase care and cleaning - Page 3

Hi, I have a pure leather Mont Blanc briefcase model 104607. Unfortunately, it is full of nail scratches next to its handle. Several times my nails touch the leather when I grab it. Any tips on how to remove (soften) these scratches? Thank you all in advance.

Hi Eddie. I don't know the specifics but that looks like a chrome-tanned calfskin. I would recommend a treatment with a conditioner like Saphir and a vigorous brushing with a horsehide brush. If that doesn't do it, a small amount of black polish might do the trick.

Leather bags are tough and remain in good condition for long. A scratch here and there adds to their great vintage look.

Hi Guys,

Nice to follow all your comments. We are planning to write a few articles on leather bag cleaning and I have gotten a lot of new ideas from this thread. It's nice to see that most of you strong support that fact that shoes polish is not good at all for leather bags. At the moment we sell only leather bags but soon we would offering polish and other accessories.

Thanks guys,
