Teeth Whitening Plan.

Part #1:
I've read through most of the threads on teeth whitening. From that information, this is what I plan on doing:

1) Brush (and floss) 2x/day with Colgate Total Toothpaste
2) Use Colgate (or Crest) Whitestrips for one trial. If it works well, use that when needed. If not, go to #3.
3) Get custom molds and opalescence and use as needed.

How does that all sound?

Part #2:

Aside from their whiteness, my teeth suck structurally. My upper teeth are huge; my bottom teeth are really small. I have buckteeth, and there's large gaps between my top teeth. My teeth are straight, but my doctor said braces can't do anything for the spacing.

Any ideas on what I can do to get normal teeth? I saw a while ago about porcelain teeth replacements. Is that an option?

Use Arm and Hammer Advance White which is comprised of baking soda and peroxide. Brush and floss at least twice a day.

You can get veneers but it their presence will be blatantly obvious to those around you.

I've used the Crest Whitestrips and they are actually very effective. I'm going to do another round soon since I used them last over 6 months ago. Can't really comment about Part 2.

Your Part #1 plan sounds fine. Regarding Part #2, I can't believe that "braces can't do anything for the spacing"; I mean, the case might not be simple, but surely something could be done. Have you seen an orthodontist? I'd have to see photos to comment further, but if you're below 40 and are willing to go with braces, I'd suggest doing everything possible to avoid any treatment plan that relies solely on prosthetics.

I saw a really cute girl yesterday whose teeth were almost yellow. Such a waste. I hope she reads this.

Umm... no-one on SF is female. And of that no-one, 0% read H&B. You need a better plan to find Snaggletooth.

Dude, you only need 2 things to get whiter teeth.

Buy a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide (OTC stuff), swish full strength or 1/2 diluted.

Brush your teeth morning and evening. Don't smoke and cut down on coffee.

i never tried the hydrogen peroxide but might give that a go.

the crest white strips have always done the trick for me.. you need to use them once a year or so but that all depends on if you smoke, drink coffee etc. - just know that it's not permanent.

but it is cheap and effective.

i'm using another pack now for 10 days... just remembered how much of a bitch it is to get that gum burn though

use your standard toothpaste and add some extra baking soda to it

That sound's so wrong it's not even funny.

I'm pretty sure braces were invented to fix the spaces between teeth. If you have too much space (gaps) you are better off, as braces can close those gaps without having teeth pulled. If you're teeth aren't perfect, talk to an orthdontist. Any good orthdontist will be able to take pictures and models of your teeth and provide you with a detailed treatment included computer simulation of how your teeth will move and look when done .. all for under $100.

I'd definitely look into that before looking into anything else. If you can keep your teeth 100% natural for as long as possible you'll be better off.

Keep in mind .. unless your dentist is also an orthodontist .. he will never recommend braces (unless he is a decent human being). Why would he get you to go to someone else, when he can talk you into the equally expensive teeth destroying modifications that he can do?

What I've had great results is right before your shower just fill the little white cap with hydrogen peroxide that comes with the bottle and put it in your mouth. Just kid of swish it around gently or let it sit while you take your shower and right before you're done with your shower spit it out. Just brush your teeth right afterward.

Teeth become whiter, no more canker sores, and it promotes oral health. I've been doing it for about a year.

High end cosmetic dentists can do wonders with porcelain veneers. Sure, it's a last choice option, but results look 100% natural. If orthodontics will not work for you, don't discount porcelain veneers from a specially trained cosmetic (not a general) dentist.

Skip step 2. Get custom bleaching trays and order NiteWhite ACP 16% (for overnight) or 22% (only tolerated in one hour periods of use). You can buy it on from Amazon or a local dental professional, but I assure you Amazon will be cheaper.

Call up your local dentist about veneers. If you decide you want to do it, shop around. A full mouth case can run anywhere from $2,000 to $50,000. And quality does not always correlate with price. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions related to this.

Dental practices mark their whitening kits up HUGE, so definitely find something online. You may only want to go with 10% to start to get used to your teeth being sensitive for a few days.
