It's official, as of 3 weeks ago I'm the loser of my family. Anyone in the same boat? I'm the oldest of 3.. Me: Hard-working, thorough, but makes time for play and concubines. Got good grades, was in 1st place (family-wise) as of 2 years ago. I make a decent income but by no means pulling in 7 figures. Sister #1: Middle child, fashion oriented, very sociable. She married a middle of the road (not rich) lawyer 7 years ago. He bought them a decent, small apartment so she never had to worry about rent/mortgage etc. By no means a gold-digger (I think?), she capitalized on her 'free' dwelling by networking herself tirelessly in fashion design.. She landed a huge gig just 2 years ago (after a string of shit pay fashion jobs), and is now the right hand (wo)man to a major label. She just sold their crappy apartment and traded up for new 2Bedroom/2bath IN CASH. She's now the major provider of the couple, and her husband is seriously thinking of retiring law to pursue indy-racing within the next 5 years. Sister #2: Youngest, lazy, care-free, C student, computer nerd. She was messing around with software for one of her nursing friends, and found a more efficient way to do things. The f*cker blew up within her friend's hospital and they are in negotiations to offer a mid 6 figure payout for rights. She doesn't want to sell, is in the process of claiming patent rights, so that she can "rent" out software to hospitals until patent exists. 4 weeks ago, our family mocked her work ethic. As of last week of seeing her, she will most likely be pulling in just under 7 figures gross (conservative estimate) for the first year of software rental. This figure will most likely rise should other hospitals in other regions implement this niche software. And here I am, the one who made all the "right" moves now being the family pauper fail. There's always that black sheep in the family that enters a family party, and everyone turns quiet out of respect or pity of circumstance, and I'm now turning into that pity-case. F*ck my plebeian life.

be glad the sisters made it out fine without having to rely on men (husbands/boyfriends/lesbian lovers) for financial stability.
the last thing you'd want is to have to help out your sisters/siblings on top of what you're making down the road....its a nice feeling to help out siblings financially if you can, but even better when they are doing well on their own.
i'd be proud of them and flaunt it. fuck it they make more money good for them right? now your kids will have rich aunts.

you know what if you told me a couple years back how i'd feel if my sisters surpassed me in terms of success, i'd say AWESOME.. now that it happened it's just a totally different world, and initially, it blows hard. i was always the premier child. i'm the most competitive out of all three, and there's obviously some unconscious bitterness/jealousy/whatever you wanna call it on my part, as i've never had to deal with this.. i'll just need to deal with it somehow i guess and try to be happy for them, but damn it must be smug to know you can basically retire within the next 5 years. i just thought i'd always be the first to say it, and it's a huge slap in my face innately even though mentally i'm happy for them. (no emo)

You have trolling to fall back on. On second thought, you suck at that as well.
Nice.
I think OP needs to learn the lesson here. Making "all the right moves" will not necessarily guarantee success or happiness. It sounds like your sisters did things that they truly enjoy and now are reaping the fruits of their labor and passion.

My dad would be considered the failure of the family, I think. At least in comparison to his brother and sister, who make a relatively middle-class sort of income. His parents (my grandparents) were extremely successful, his father being one of the first Ford dealers in Ontario, as well as being a genius when it came to the stock market (Somehow he was told he should liquidate and buy gold 2 weeks before 9/11).
Now he lives off of their money, which of course they only collect interest off of, so that they never lose a time. Right now my older brothers are both pulling near 6 digits, just in/out of university, while my dad lost his 6 digit income job to alcoholism.

i could see some resentment if a sibling just married rich and then acted like the financial stability was due to their own hard work ect. but you just said that the sisters actually put in hard work to be where they are.
please tell me you're a fellow azn... these sound like neurotic azn "problems".
