To be fair, your reply was a bit like the automated help line when calling the cable company or an HMO. Having been here for a little bit, I already know that the uber-long "jeans" thread and "ask a question" thread only really get good answers about 50% of the time.

Not saying we have to be nice to noobs, but I don't think you can be offended when he didn't follow advice that probably would have landed him nowhere.

Everytime I've posted in the I Have A Jean thread, I have gotten a good answer within the day. Not so much the small questions thread, which I didn't tell him to go to. It is still against the rules to post a thread for a small question when there is a stickied thread to deal with it.
