At what age did you move out?

Moved out straight out of college to NYC for 4 years..

moved back home due to work project (closer to parents' home).. went insane after 3 months..

back on own since..

i have friends in this unforgiving economy who've moved back in with their parents, and i definitely understand..

but for me i just can't stand living with 'em. i'm fairly conservative with my savings/capital, but i probably wouldn't blink twice to never have to live with 'em again..

I moved out for college and after working for a year my grandmas house become free since she needed a care facility. So I just bum there now, half the rent and have a garage.

I plan to move out in two years(I'm 18 now, just finished my first year of college). I will probably live on base(USAF) after I get out of college.
Although, I have friends from Colombia, and Peru where they say it's normal to live with your parents until it's time to finally settle down. Have an acquaintance living with his mom, and cleaning lady... he's 38 says he's finally deciding to move out.
Guess for some people it's all different. At time's I can not stand my family, but I appreciate them for everything they're doing for me.

Moved out at 14 to go to school. Never back home for longer than 2 months after that...

I didn't move out, but my mum did, wanted to live in the country. She moved out oh, 2 months ago. And I'm currently 21 sorta-nearly 22.

18 essentially immediately after I graduated high school. I haven't spent more than a week or two in a row at my parents' house since then.

17. Same deal as xenox though my parents moved out to their country house. Moved out of the house proper when I was 18 almost 19.

I guess I'm curious to this considering I'm still technically being supported due to my circumstances, but how are you people who live completely independently of their parents but are studying at uni still capable of surviving? I would think it to deer an expense even in shared accomodation to live off a part time wage. I used to pay my way in shared accomodation with a full time job and found that was hard enough (though admittedly the pay wasn't the greatest). I'll be needing to get a job soon enough so I s'pose this question's relevant to my future.

Will be moving out after this summer, and I'm turning 19 in August. Off to school. As for financing Xenox, school is basically free (not more than $100/year in admission fee), you need some books and food and everything, but we have a state-owned bank for students which will give a loan and scholarship combination at ~$12,000 each year. I think 60% of it is a loan, and 40% becomes a scholarship if you pass all your exams. No interest on the loan as you're enrolled in school.

My parents couldn't afford to send me to school anyway, so a combination of working to pay living expenses and student loans to pay the tuition. Not much other choice if I wanted to go to school.

Stayed at home for a year after college, then moved out on my own. Couldn't afford it until I saved some dough of a year of working, and even then it was hard. I grew up in an area where its not uncommon for single adult children to live at home with their parents until they're married, and even then, they may live in an apartment in their parents house...I think I would have gone crazy. Rents and costs in NYC are crazy, especially when you're a civil servant. How can a rookie cop live on his own in NYC for $28k? Thats what starting pay was for a while...

21. Lived with my mom while attending community college and into my first semester at the university I eventually graduated from. Had to move out with little notice/savings a couple months before turning 22 for reasons I've noted here before.

It's definitely been a crunch financially. I could probably move back in with my mom if it were really dire, but we both agree that we get along so much better now that we don't live together. It means missing out on a savings of about $700 each month, but at 25, I also feel I'm to a point where I shouldn't be relying on financial support from her.
