The most generic/unstylish/invisible outfit a man can have? (khakis+polo shirt?)

The clothes look good because the clothes fit. I think that is the main point in all of this is that the fit of the clothing is what elevates any outfit out of mediocrity.

The same can be said of the companion. That is a dress that has to fit perfectly or it will be a disaster.

In the office, this is the winner. I was in a room recently, and 6 of 7 men were dressed like this. It was incredible to behold.

On the weekend, I think it's the Khaki shorts & Polo short sleeve.
The question remains, which color Polo shirt is the "winner"?

Reminds me of Walmart...

I don't understand the complaint. Straight-line drape is the hallmark of good trouser fit, hipsters to the contrary.

Wow, she does look great. The guy looks good too IMO, although I hate the big logo. Agree wtih the comments about fit - even the most generic clothes can look pretty good if they fit well.

Now I know where Thom Browne gets his ideas for Black Fleece!

The fit on the jacket makes that thing look about as good as it possibly can.

To refine the question a bit: in what color is the polo most generic?

maroon?
royal blue?
navy?
hunter green?

(and i'm not saying these are BAD colors ...)

edit: by the way (and perhaps Vox can appreciate this, if he ever flies commercial airlines), when changing planes at an airport, i can sense that I've found the connecting flight to Boston by the preponderance of maroon, navy, and hunter green.
