Fucking awesome. It's great to see a performer who's actually, you know, talented. Love her footwork.

at that dumb haircut..

She's actually pretty though, and I do agree that she's a great performer.

I like her uniqueness and dancing but that song wasn't so great.

She is the shit, though I think the album is a little overrated she is a very unique artist and is certainly doing things worth applauding.

The haircut is badass.

I had this as my MySpace song a year or two back. I heard it on an Alternative Apparel cd.

I much prefer the afro. It's actually my favorite female haircut.

Ya. I love it too. The way she looks in video fits in with the album (from what ican gather from the title), but she looks way hotter with that 'fro. Girl has a tight body too. She actually reminds me of the black girl in the remake of Alfie, who also had a 'fro.

Does every thread have to become "Would you hit it?"

In this case I think it's a worthwhile discussion. She's a classically beautiful girl but she seems intent to downplay that under a veil of theatrical eccentricity. She's a a step over the ledge for me.

Maybe you'd be more comfortable in the "Don't ask, don't tell" thread.

Arch Android is one of my favorite albums of recent years. A bold artistic statement. Monae, like Erykah Badu, Santogold and Gnarls Barkley are the freaky avant garde of "R&B", a category that is overly simplistic and applied to them by the mainstream media simply because they are African-American performers who aren't rappers. Monae in particular is influenced by Octavia Butler's Afro-futurist novels.

I was introduced to her work by a colleague. I think its pretty good, but I don't care for her style.

I have tried to like her because all my cool friends tell me she's cool, but I'm kind of 'meh'. She's got a different sound, which is great, it's just not a sound I want to listen to very much.

I like it.
