Laceless Sperry Top-siders: Cool or Tool?

I tied on a pair of these at Nordstrom last weekend and liked them a lot. However, they're neither fish nor foul. A canvass loafer doesn't need eyelets, and a canvas sneaker with eyelets really ought to have laces. Anybody here own a pair of these? If so, do people ask you how you lost your laces?

4 Ways to Identify a MCer - high post count - misuse of pretentious phrase ("Neither fish nor fowl.") - faux-philosophical quote on fashion in signature - new thread on an inane question about basic article of clothing

What's an MCer. Anyways as for the original question, if you like them get them. I dont think they are that interesting looking and the no laces thing Ill say is somewhat stupid, but anyone that would call you a tool for wearing them needs to die, well something to that effect.

MC'er = someone who usually posts in the Men's Clothing forum Also to OP, they look fine. Sperry knows what it's doing. Could have also asked this in the quick questions thread...

Ah, but then I might have missed my opportunity to be insulted by some dickweed who thinks he has analyzed my character based on four observations about one post. I hope that his petty, unprovoked attack isn't representative of the manners one normally encounters in this forum.

the shoes are nothing special and probably fine for summer beaters. I personally would choose something else but if you like them, then get them.

Whether or not he is a dickweed, he is exactly right about your post screaming MC slumming in SWD. Especially the quote in your sig, which is borderline Ask Andy lol. Nothing wrong with it, we just don't get much of that around here.

@OP: I don't think there's anything wrong with them. I looked at them yesterday, and the only thing that turned me off was the plaid at the top of the tongue.

I dont really like how they look. If I were you I'd probrably go for a pair of these:

Shoes have lots of stuff they don't need and imo the eyelets take away the weird slip on shoe look but they're still super easy to put on and take off.
