USA visa waiver entry/immigration query

Thread Starter
for those of you with an angle/experience on such matters--- I have been to the US for two vacations and twice in transit. All these visits were before (in the 90s) and around the time of 9/11. SInce the new visa system, pre-travel reqs and increased security measures, I am curious to know if these could (possibly) affect any future visit I intend to make. Over 20 years ago I was fined for a very minor (non-ter*****t!!!) offense in the UK. This offense is now considered "spent"(and has been considered so since 10 years after the crime)., in English legal parlance, meaning it would not have any bearing on a job application, for example, in the UK. I do not recall what questions were asked at immigration when I visited the US for my vacations. My questions are these: would I likely be OK to travel to the US on the visa waiver (and not having to visit the US Embassy for permission beforehand)? Also, would such criminal conviction information so long ago be available to immigration officials upon arrival ? Are the US-UK so jacked up on info sharing? (If so, would I be advised that I wouldn't be permitted entry when I went through the pre-travel notification/website registration procedure?) Thanks for any forthcoming advice or other interweb directions for such a query.

You should be fine.

Depends what the offence is. Fraud, drugs something like that or assault secular offences would probably cause some problems. It doesn't sound to serious so you would probably be fine. On the visa, you now have to fill in an application online before departure. You should be told about this by your airline. It's literally a small questionaire. It's fairly instantaneous on whether permission is granted. If they say no then you got to the embassy. Questions are more along the line of how much money do you have, carrying any food, purpose of stay, where you're visiting. And ye they do share. Every single person entering the US has their name put through a database, and checks done. But I think it's more most wanted, terrorist lists etc. You should be fine aslong as your offence wasn't anything serious.
