I really should get cable, but I don't watch enough TV to justify the expense.

Lately, though, I often find myself on Saturday and Sunday mornings, during the baby's nap, or just after breakfast, flipping the tube on just for a distraction while I'm posting dumb stuff on SF. But there is literally not one entertaining thing on.

Not counting the all-weather stations, I get six normal stations plus 2 PBS stations. Right now, there are infomercials on all six regular stations, some really crappy show on PBS2, and a pledge drive on PBS1. From experience, I know that this will continue at least until early afternoon.

Who watches this stuff?

Just fork over $30/mo. and get the basic package. A buck a day is worth it to save yourself daily aggravation. On a side note, depending on where you live, you can pick up decent OTA channels, but you'll need a high-power attenna for that.

I live downtown Toronto. I get pretty much everything with an unamplified antenna and I live on the third floor.

The only shows I really watch are US network ones (24, 30 Rock, etc.) and possibly the news. But I average less than 5 hours of TV per week so maybe my needs are low.

Hulu, its free, connect your laptop to your TV and get a wireless keyboard and surf the net in 50inches HD.

Or buy an Xbox/PS3. Cable sucks.
