It's just weird in that I don't think I've ever used anything but citronella for casual stuff like sitting on the porch or whatnot, and I have found it to be very effective in my own experience.

That's not bad - a lot better than I would think.

It doesn't sound like you'd need more. If it's not working that close to you, I can't imagine it's going to work. Like Kwilk said, it's always just worked for me - I'm really surprised it's apparently not usually as effective as I've experienced. I have a couple of those candles in a can I use when it's just me/a few people, and I have a bunch of those refillable torches I use for bigger gatherings.

How about getting one of those blacklight/UV mosquito zappers? They get good reviews on Amazon.

I haven't owned one, but have been around them. They can be pretty noisy.

Burts Bees makes an all natural bug repellent that works fucking amazingly and doesn't feel/smell like chemicals.

Mosquito's love me more than otter loves trolling.

I remember the product Skin So Soft (Avon?) works well as an alternative mosquito repellent.

I've had good luck with Skin So Soft before, too.

Same here. I discovered it last year, and had great success with it. In a week or so, I'll have to start using it for when I'm outside for any extended periods.
