still unsure though, MrG what damage can be done? like staining or like actual damage?
If the ring rests on teeth it can erode them. Imagine taking a piece of metal and rubbing it against your tooth. Then imagine having that piece of metal there constantly. There is one tooth on the side where my lip ring was that I think may have experienced a bit of this. It's one tooth that felt like it wore down a bit faster than the others. That said, you can't tell by looking, and my dentists have never been concerned about it, so it may just be natural wear that happened to coincide with having the ring in there.
Also, I know of at least one person who chipped a tooth on a tongue piercing. It was shortly after he had the piercing done, and he wasn't quite accustomed to having it in his mouth. He bit down wrong, and out came a piece of molar. On the other hand, I knew a someone else who inadvertently bit down on the stud, and no damage was done. It's much less likely to happen with a lip piercing, given it's not entirely in your mouth, but it's still a possibility.
This isn't intended to talk you out of it, but it's something to keep an eye on if you decide to get the piercing.
