Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii

I was watching some of this and couldn't help but think of the "Spinal Tap" factor - a rock band performing in the amphitheater of an ancient Roman city. It's not unlike a miniature Stonehenge in danger of being crushed by a dwarf.

One of my all-time favourites. Meddle and Saucerful of Secrets are fabulous albums and the Pompeii movie has been with me since my childhood. Magic music!

Spinal Tap is a joke about Led Zeppelin, correct?

spinal tap is a joke about the 70s in general. nigel tufnel is based on jeff beck. check some interviews of beck for some reference. hilarious. live at pompeii is one of the greatest things to happen in the history of mankind.

I tried to think of some way to disagree with you, but I couldn't. I'm not complaining about the music - I love PF, especially the Sid era stuff. Anything pre Wall is great. It's just that Pompeii is pretentious, like Metallica recording with the London Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. "Hey, look at those guys in bell bottoms walking around bubbling mud". It's...funny.

So we are coming full circle and are now all in agreement. It was apparent from the first post already.

Yeah, because the Wall sucked.

Actually if you want to know, the mini-stonehenge scene is supposed to be a play on a black sabbath tour (post ozzy...i believe) in which they had a stonehenge backdrop that turned out to be far too large for most stages.
