The definitive SF-approved non-baller sneaker thread - Page 153

Like the PF Flyers in the post above. I had a pair similar a while back. They're good looking.

I just grabbed some Sperry Topsider white canvas lace-ups. I love em. Vans has been knocking off this look, but the Sperry is classic. And I'm surprised by how comfortable they are. There's just enough arch support, and they are generous in the toe box without feeling oversized.

I felt like I needed something a little less "street" than a Converse or Jack Purcells, and this fits the bill.

Tbh, the best budget sneaker is probably:

700

100% agree. those or high top white or off white chuck taylors. most everything else is trying too hard to be something that simply doesn't look good when it's made to be at a low price point.

Ordered a set of these...hope they fit and look good (because the photo on the regular amazon site looks terrible but the photos on myhabit look good)

^ lol those shoes are so wack, i bought a pair at daffys one day when i needed them for an emergency. Wanted to play handball ( NY sport ). profile looks worse irl and they have very little support in the insoles, so I would just pick up a pair of jack percells, converse collabs ( much comfier and usually look better), or if they still make them, those keds x mark mcnairy.

well, I ordered a set of these too http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058C88MC/ref=ox_ya_os_product

Will see if I like either pair when they come...looking for something not-too expensive to wear with a black leather jacket since most things I have tend to go brown.

Ok, got both pairs of shoes and they fit but not sure about keeping both.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Keds

Tiger

Sorry for the ugly office carpet in the pics...if I decide to return one pair it would probably be the Keds but only because they seem less versatile in gray leather than the Tigers in white canvas.

Profile looks fine to me on the Keds...about the same as the pictures. My guess is that there are actually two versions and the non-distressed looking leather on the amazon main site is a different shoe (and possibly with a different profile that Master Milano commented on). Not a ton of support but the footbeds are removable so if it becomes a problem (probably won't since I am fine wearing chucks), I can just swap them out.

haha, maybe this is true, I did get the distressed suedes... they look fine in your pics especially with the jeans. The second one is more versatile though so there you go smile.gif

They're not bad, although if I had to buy another pair I'd probably buy the leather ones. My canvas ones didn't take very long to start to crack at the sides, although I don't know if leather ones would be that much better.

A page ago I brought up the Adidas Rod Laver clean pack, and was informed they were from 2008.

Too bad, since I think they have nicer silhouette than Jack Purcells. They would be a good choice for people who want something like an Achilles, but who don't have the money for them. You can still buy Rod Lavers, but I find the special editions look better than what I've seen in stores.

From 2012

Leather converse shoes don't really last much longer than canvas ones at the sides of the soles. There is a reason Converse shoes are cheap.

Converse sneakers are painful to wear.

I just got my Svenssons in, and they are extremely comfortable - I can wear them without socks without fear of blistering.  Leather's kind of cheap, though.

If you like black sneakers:

Too late on Svensson bandwagon?

+1 those limited edition Lavers look great. Wish they were easier to find. where'd you find the suede version with the blue heel? A simple pair of Stan Smiths is also a good option.
