Moving, can opener is packed. Thought I was a goner, but soon I will be eating delicious spaghetti-o's. Nice to know in a pinch that this can be done.

Good way to dull it and snap the tip off.

Depending on the can, I can sometimes tear it open it with my hands. The old school heavy steel ones are impossible, but the new thinner aluminum ones can be done by denting the side and twisting. Course, you need to be over a bowl, and watch that you don't sever an artery on the sharp edge. But whatever. It can be done.

Too scary for me.

My GF has a knife of the brand "Shun", which I can now happily recommend. Seems really strong.

You used a Shun to open a can?

I will slap you in the face if I ever meet you.
I promise you that.

That said, we can still be besties on the netweb.

You don't have to worry about it. His girl friend will do worse once she finds a nicked and mangled knife in the new house.

hahaha... you'd have been better off not telling us you used a Shun to open a can. Just for future reference. Let's hope it was a cheap one.

Yea I think it was, it said Elite on the blade. I noticed the red band on the handle, that is how I found it in the drawer.

Oh good. Only $80-$150 to buy a replacement knife then. I thought it might have been the $189-399.99 per knife Meiji models.
