...[she] said she was preparing to board a return flight to Jacksonville last February when she was ordered by security officers to put her watch in a bin and place it on a conveyor belt. She said she objected several times but was told she had no choice if she wanted to board her flight, so eventually she complied.

...[she] said she became hysterical after realizing the watch was gone. She called Shirk for advice. She asked for police to be called, but security officers told her she was disrupting the area and had to leave.

Was the rolex that essential for traveling? Fucked up for her, but she should of left the watch at home.

that is really f'ed up. a person should be entitled to take their jewelry whereever they go, but for an airport to do this, is criminal. hope they found it or at least reimburse her.

So travellers should leave their watches at home? That's a stupid thing to say. You might as well say the same thing when someone gets mugged for their jewelry. Was it so necessary to wear a diamond necklace to dinner and then on a romantic walk back? And what's the difference between a watch or a laptop or iPod? It shouldn't have been stolen, and with all the cameras around, should be recovered quickly. Period.

Rolex? Yawn Mr. women loses should stay in grad school a little longer.

that sucks, but what a dumbass. IF she just played by the rules like everyone else and put her little watch on the conveyor to begin with, no one would have thought twice. But nope. She made a scene like a self entitled brat and look what happened.

I saw a scam a while ago where people set up a decoy and essentially steal stuff from the machines as it comes off cause everyone is stuck in line.

I wonder if it was a fake Rolex, and she is doing this to swindle the TSA out of $24,000...

Who the fuck said travelers should leave watches at home? If she could afford a $24,000 watch she could of taken a less expensive watch on a trip. Things being stolen when you travel ain't more common? Get real.

Can't tell if you're leveling or not. If you are, well played. If not, lol.

Travelers aren't in a high risk of theft?

Really, are you being serious?

It shouldn't have been stolen from under the TSA's nose is the point. Doesn't matter what she can afford; when you put shit in the bin you expect it to get to you on the other side.

What to Leave Behind

Don't bring anything you would hate to lose. Leave at home:

valuable or expensive-looking jewelry

irreplaceable family objects
all unnecessary credit cards
your Social Security card, library card, and similar items you may routinely carry in your wallet.

What would they know about theft while traveling, right?

This is a bunch of generic advice for people traveling abroad and who are not familiar with the streets or the safety of the country they're visiting (the page title and intro should be good hints for you).

This has nothing to do with some woman flying from Norfolk, VA to Jacksonville, FL. She's taking a mode of transportation that's not especially known for jewelry theft, and can take whatever she pleases on the plane as long as it's not prohibited. TSA agents have no business stealing stuff. And there's no blaming the victim here, sorry.

Again, your arguments are laughable (to be generous)
