really... this was all his undoing... he left Stock, Aitken & Waterman and his synth-pop-dance music because he got sensitive with all the negative rap he was getting for sounding formulaic and stale, and released "Free" which not only was a turnaround that his established fans didn't appreciate but also sucked. he also tried changing his clean cut image by keeping his hair long, and dressed like paul simon. he can still bring in money playing the old songs, but I don't think he can reestablish himself as a serious artist playing new songs.
