Alternatives to the faux hawk

Thread Starter
I hate to make another "hair style" thread, but I don't believe this specific topic has come up before. After searching around the forums, the consensus seems to be that the "faux hawk" hairstyle is hard to pull off and makes most men look like douche-bags. However, I have thick hair that is somewhat wavy (the longer, the wavier), and the only hair style I've found that really seemed to look halfway decent on me is the faux hawk. Any shorter, it doesn't look right; any longer, my hair gets too wavy and frizzy and begins to poof. What alternatives are there to the faux hawk style that work good with medium length, thick, and somewhat wavy hair? What medium length hairstyles do you guys sport and why?
