Why? I think this will generate plenty of money for the NFL. Trust me, there are not going to be any empty seats.

because the actual stadium is in suburban New Jersey, not like soldier field in chicago where its right in the city, or RFK. so the game will be almost an hour away from the city, the players will have to commute back and forth for media shit, and the fans will get to experience the beautiful drive to new jersey in snowy/slushy assed February (since public transportation will be less than ideal).

Seems to work fine for the Giants and the Jets. Besides the Meadowlands is not an hour away from the city (more like 15 minutes), and a lot of the "media shit" is actually in New Jersey.

i've done the drive from manhattan to medowlands for concerts/jets games and its stressful. it takes about 45min (without heavy traffic or bad weather). i'd rather take a train/public transportation, but its a crappy option (especially compared to other stadiums like yankee stadium or citi field). its just a bit of a rouse because its being sold as a NYC superbowl, when its not. its not even a New York Superbowl. i understand that the new stadium will be nicer and more fan friendly, I'm totally happy that it is... i actually like the idea of a cold weather superbowl from a game standpoint. it would be fun to watch even live. but this isn't a NYC superbowl, just as the NY Jets/Giants aren't teams that play in New York.

I took public transportation from NJ to NYC and back every day for three years for law school. My door to door time was usually about 45 minutes and I lived further than the Meadowlands. Sometimes it takes longer than that to get a few blocks in Manhattan.

It seems to me like people on both sides of the Hudson are pretty happy with this.

Despite the fact that I'd like the Super Bowl to come back to Arizona, I can't fault the NFL for putting the game in the biggest media market in the world.

This is so gay. Having a game in the cold is awful. All those people who yearn for the glory days of the ice bowl and Defense and running games are idiots and need to live in the now.

Todays game is built on passing, quarterbacks and offense. Yea, a defense is a nice luxury, but all the upper echelon teams have star QBs. I can list them if you want, but you know Im right.

For instance, look at this years Super bowl, who made it? Colts and Saints. Teams built on speed and passing. The road to the SB went through their domes. Can you imagine how watching the championship games and how fun they were (30-17, Colts / 31-28 OT, Saints) then driving them to the snow and cold to make them slow down and play a running game? Yea, 10-6 game with crappy runners and awful defense.
