Thanks, Globe. I think I've heard of that, and heard that it's a good all-round discipline. Maybe I'll look into it.
Drake, if you're looking for glamour in Polo, then I hope you have LOTS of coin. 95% of polo players are just weekend warriors. That is, we tack & groom our own horses. If you have at least $30K sitting around (10K each for three starter ponies), $2-5K/yr for greens fees, $1-2K for tack and other equipment, then $1-3K/yr for pro fees, then you can play at the entry level of low-goal polo. Not trying to discourage you, because if you like competitive sport, it is probably the most fun you can have in 7 minutes!! Just don't expect the "exclusivity" or "glamour" until you can hire a team of pros and buy them all $10-30K ponies (for a total of 24), and at least one full-time groom to handle the dirty work.
In any case, I encourage everyone to take at least one little set of polo lessons at some time in their lives. It's magical. And gives you a whole new appreciately for the athleticism of the ponies.
