Hair Question For Athletes/Active People

Hi

I have been reading here that it is not a good idea to wash your hair every day.

But, how does this apply to people who compete in athletic activities or fitness related activities in general?

After I jog or go for a ride, I am pretty sweaty and my hair smells, so I wash it. It seems as though I am really starting to notice that it is getting "dry" for the lack of a better word.

What do you do? Do I have any other options?

Thanks in advance

I've been in kind of the same boat since I started working out. I used to touch/play with my hair a lot so maybe if that's the case for you as well you can try resisting that urge first. After I dry off/cool down my hair usually doesn't look too bad, and you need those natural oils...

don't shampoo so much. gillette conditioner smells awesome btw. the shampoo didn't get gunk out so much. so i'd rec suave stuff for shampoo. i liked the clarifying but that may be too drying.

I'd suggest using a moisturizing conditioner weekly instead of twice per month or monthly. Also, don't use a very heavy shampoo.

i usually take showers twice per day, one in the morning and one in the evening since i swim alot. i've never had a problem using shampoo/conditioner both times for the past 10 years. it feels very uncomfortable to me to not wash my hair every day. i do keep my hair only a couple inches long so i suppose it wouldnt have as much of a detrimental effect.

Aubrey Organics Shampoos are the most gentle ones out there. No Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. They don't lather very well, but that's part of what makes them so gentle. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/search/...d&brandId=b298

IMO, this is incorrect. It is not a good idea to shampoo every day. I wash my hair daily, but only shampoo every few days. If you insist on shampooing daily for some reason (usually smell), use a much smaller amount than normal of what you have, buy a gentler shampoo (and don't use much of that), and/or plan on conditioning longer and more often.

I guess I was incorrect to assume that washing meant with shampoo?

What product do you use to wash your hair if not shampoo then? If no product is used, isn't it called a "rinse"?

(I'm not being sarcastic or anything, I am actually curious)
