What do you guys like an why?

I'm getting the hang of using the DE and like it for beard reduction, but I noticed this AM when cruising over one day of growth that the electric does a nice job.

I'm using an inexpensive rotary style razor thats supposedly not the way to go, its a hand-me-down from my grandfather. Something he bought after years of using the DE.

My thoughts now are to reduce the beard with the DE and then maintain with the electric.

I've been able to avoid cutting myself with feather blades and i generally get a pretty decent shave with them. My troubles are this:

-On the ATG pass if I'm not extremely careful about blade angle I give myself horrible razor burn. For that reason I generally avoid the ATG pass and my shave is not as close because of it.

- I cant shave everyday with the DE because it tears my face up to do so, so ever other day is it.

- I dont always have time for 20 minutes of shaving in the morning, so i generally shave the day before and I dislike having stubble in meetings and other situations where I would rather look put together.

The Braun 7-series is about as good as you can get with an electric
but every face is different so YMMV.

Looks pretty nice!

A quick search leads me to believe that most people using one on this forum are happy with them.

I just bought a Braun 7-series a week or so ago and so far I like it... hair regrowth is definitely a tad faster than the Mach 3, but it takes about 1/5 the time to do the whole thing so doing it every day isn't a hassle. I got the 760cc.

I tested a Phillips, Panasonic and Braun and liked the Braun the best... The jist seemed to be that Panasonic was the strongest cutter, but pretty hard on your skin (and a little painful), Phillips on the exact opposite end and Braun in between.

Thanks guys, starting to sound like the Braun is the best choice. Even the cheap electric I have now reminded me of how easy shaving was prior to switching to the DE.

I dont mind the DE but I find it to be a challenge in consistency and overall very time consuming. My hair grows back very quickly and if I'm clean shaven the night before I can feel stubble in the AM. Its an aggravation especially compared to friends who can go days between shaves.

Buy a Braun P70. This is the most bang for buck electric there is. I'd buy mine again for three times the going rate. Maybe more.

TG? DE? What's that?

Another consideration is blade repacement. I've tried some models and finally settled on the Norelco. Those rotary blade replacements are easy to find so you don't have to get a brand new shaver when your unit starts losing its ability to give you a really clean shave.

Just get a midrange norelco model.

Havent you guys used Gillette? I personally use Gillette turbo in which we can shave in the opposite direction that gives us a more clean shave. (I am not their affiliate), Just sharing my personal experience. I'm sure a lot of you would prefer using it once you get your hands on it. You just won't regret using it and having your face done with Gillette.
